Disputing part of a transaction
A dispute covers the full transaction amount by default. To dispute less than that, send the amount the member expected to be charged and Casap files the difference.
Sending the amount
Add one entry to questionnaireAnswers, keyed by questionId:
{
"transactionIds": ["txn-9f2a"],
"customer": { "uuid": "09e01299-e3a7-46c3-af16-a8316c30619e" },
"reason": "DISPUTE_REASON_MERCHANT_ISSUE",
"questionnaireAnswers": [
{
"questionId": "AMOUNT_EXPECTED",
"question": "What amount did you expect to be charged?",
"answer": "60.00"
}
]
}
On a transaction of 100.00 this files a dispute for 40.00 - the transaction amount less AMOUNT_EXPECTED.
AMOUNT_EXPECTED is not part of the questionnaire Get Questionnaire returns. Send it alongside those answers, keyed by questionId rather than questionUuid.
Rules
- One transaction at a time. The amount applies to every transaction in the request, so send a single entry in
transactionIdswhen disputing part of a charge. - Plain decimal only.
40,40.5and40.00are accepted. Currency symbols and digit separators are not, and a value that cannot be parsed reads as zero, which disputes the full amount. - Two decimal places. Anything beyond the second is dropped rather than rounded, so
40.999files40.99. - The result floors at zero. An
AMOUNT_EXPECTEDat or above the transaction amount files a dispute for nothing. - Send
questionas well asquestionId. OnlyquestionandquestionUuidare stored with the dispute, so an entry carryingquestionIdalone reaches us as a value with no label.
What the amount affects
The amount becomes the disputed amount for the case: the provisional and final credit owed, the total shown to the member, and the amount Casap files with the network.
